Danica Frazer – AASCF President
Danica is the Executive Director of McMan Youth, Family and Community Services in Edmonton and Northern Alberta. She has worked at McMan since 1986 and has extensive experience in the delivery of services to children and families and to adults with developmental disabilities. Danica has a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Political Science and a Masters Degree in Social Work Administration. In 2004 she was awarded a Muttart Fellowship and during her sabbatical year she researched and wrote a guide for organizational planning in the face of uncertainty. Danica has been involved in AASCF activities for a number of years with both the Edmonton Chapter and the Board of Directors. She is currently serving her second term as President of the Association.

Gus Rozycki – Treasurer
Dr. Gus Rozycki is the Chief Executive Officer of the John Bosco Child and Family Services Foundation (Bosco Foundation). The Bosco Foundation’ focus is support of Bosco Homes and Bosco related agencies provide services in the Greater Edmonton area, Central Alberta and the Northwest Territories. The array of services the Bosco family of organizations provide include education, community group care, treatment group care, intensive treatment group care, foster care, adult mental health group care, education and staff training programs. Gus serves on various community boards and brings with him a broad range of experiences from the Education, Child Welfare and Mental Health sectors. Gus serves on the Resources Committee of the Child Welfare League of Canada and has served on various AASCF Committees in the past 24 years and is a past Chair of the AASCF Edmonton Chapter.

Jim Pritchard - Calgary Representative
Jim has a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Calgary. He worked for Alberta Children’s Services for many years, where he held roles that include front line, supervisory, contract management, Advocate, Senior Management, and Community Planning and Development. He was actively involved in the Re-Design of Children’s Services Process in the Calgary Region. Jim has been with Hull Child and Family Services for the last several years, where he is Director of Operations and Community Services. He is responsible for Quality Assurance, Training, Aboriginal Services, and Community Programs. Jim also has a keen interest in Organizational Effectiveness, Planning, and Communications. He is involved in several community collaborations and committees.

Peter Portlock CD, MHSA - Southern Alberta Representative
Peter is currently ED of Lethbridge Family Services, and a Board member of Lethbridge Legal Guidance and Family Service Canada. He joined the Canadian Forces right after university graduation in 1967, and served in the Personnel Support (Administration) Branch for 15 years. Leaving the Canadian Forces in 1980 with the rank of Major, he began civilian life as Executive Director of what is now Swim Alberta. He returned to university, completing a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration in 1986, and spent the next four years in various senior administrative positions at the University of Alberta Hospitals. He has worked in association management for the past 20 years as ED/CEO of the Alberta Physiotherapy Association, Canadian Mental Health Association Alberta Division, Canadian Diabetes Association (Alberta/NWT), Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society and the Alberta Alliance on Mental Illness and Mental Health. His other Board experience includes Vice Chair of the Alberta Insurance Council and public member on both the Provincial Council of the Alberta Association of Registered Nurses and the Board of the Canadian Nurses Association. He was also a member on the Seniors’ Advisory Council of Alberta and the Persons with Developmental Disabilities Edmonton Community Board and served as the public member on the board of the Pharmacists’ Association of Alberta for seven years. Currently Peter is a public representative on the Alberta Funeral Services Regulatory Board, and the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta.

Anton Smith - Edmonton Representative
Anton has worked in human services for 20 years as a Child and Youth Care Worker and a Social Worker. He has worked primarily for non profit organizations who provide services in areas of: Residential Treatment Living, Foster Care, Group Care, Supported Independent, and Family Intervention. He is currently the Executive Director with Oak Hill Boys Ranch and as well, works as a seasonal instructor for Grant McEwen Community College’s, Bachelor of Child and Youth Care Program. Anton has completed a Masters in Social Work (2005) through Dalhousie University in Child and Family Practice and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Victoria.

Jacquie Aitken - North West Representative
Jacquie Aitken has worked in the field of crisis intervention, family violence and abuse for 30 years. She is both a clinician working with victims and offenders, and an administrator and has worked as both the executive director of Odyssey House and PACE Sexual Assault Centre. Jacquie is a founding member of the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters, the Alberta Association of Sexual Assault Centres, and the RCMP’s Victim Assistance Program for Grande Prairie and district.

Tanya Pace-Crosschild - Aboriginal Representative South
Tanya Pace-Crosschild is a First Nations member of the Blackfoot Nation, Blood Reserve. She has been the Executive Director for Opokaa’sin in Lethbridge for the past 14 years and is a sessional instructor at the University of Lethbridge. Tanya has a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience (1998) and a Masters in Public Administration (2008) from the University of Regina. Tanya sits on various community committees and boards within the province. Tanya’s life work has been dedicated to improving outcomes for Aboriginal children and families.

Greg Schmidt - FSCD Initiatives Representative
Greg Schmidt is the Executive Director of Family Ties Association in Lethbridge. Greg has been with Family Ties since 1992 and the agency provides in-home and community support services to children and families under Family Supports for Children with Disabilities and Child Protective Services. Greg is a strong advocate for children and families and the fair compensation of staff in the field doing rewarding but difficult tasks.

Patty Kilgallon- Community Human Services Initiative Representative
Patty is the Executive Director of the Children's Cottage Society of Calgary. She has worked in this sector for the past 20 years and prior to that worked in the area of children’s mental health. She has been on the board of the AASCF since 2001. Patty has a sincere desire to improve the lives of vulnerable children and families and accomplishes this through her commitment to initiatives that address the needs of the agencies that serve them.

Bruce MacLaurin – Board Member (academic)
Bruce MacLaurin is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Social Work, University of Calgary and teaches child and family policy, child welfare, child maltreatment and research and evaluation. He has more than 15 years of front-line and management experience in non-profit children’s services in Alberta and Ontario and has continued to be involved in community practice through non-profit board membership, advocacy and evaluative research. During the past 10 years, his research and publishing has focused on using research to inform policy and practice, specifically as it relates to child maltreatment, child welfare policy and service delivery, foster care outcomes, street youth and youth at risk. He is the co-investigator for the three cycles of the Canadian Incidence Study of Reported Child Abuse and Neglect (CIS-1998, 2003 & 2008), the principal investigator for provincial incidence studies in Alberta (AIS-2003 and 2008), British Columbia (BCIS-2008), Saskatchewan (SIS-2008) and Northwest Territories (NWTIS-2008), and co-principal investigator on a CIHR street youth study examining health and HIV.
